BAM Media M182: Malt Extract Agar - (Yeasts and Molds) (MEAYM)

Bacteriological Analytical Manual

Malt extract, powdered 20.0 g
Glucose 20.0 g
Peptone 1.0 g
Agar 20.0 g
Distilled water 1 liter

Final pH 5.4.

Mix ingredients, heat to dissolve agar and sterilize at 121°C for 15 min. Temper media to 45°C and pour plates under aseptic conditions. Dehydrated MA is commercially available, but since several MA formulas exist, check for the correct composition.

This medium is recommended for identification of Aspergillus and Penicillium.
