Dear FDA:

I am oppposed to the proposed and pending changes to food products (Docket # 2007P-0085), submitted by the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association (GMA/FPA) on behalf of a number of organizations including the Chocolate Manufacturers Association (CMA). I understand that as part of this petition, the CMA has petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve a change in the Standard of Identity for chocolate products to allow for the use vegetable fats in chocolate and milk substitutes and to be permitted to call the product chocolate.

This would be detrimental to all chocolate products and not benefit consumers. With a consumer move toward more natural and more organic products, INCLUDING CHOCOLATE, it would be wrong to allow manufacturers to deviate from a minimum of the currently allowed marking standards for chocolate and chocolate products.

Further, with the proven anti-oxident benefits found in natural dark chocolate, it would be wrong to allow manufacturers to alter formumaltions and labeling markings. Changing current formulations could allow manufacturers to substitute lower quality or unhealthful ingredients that could alter the many benefits chocolate and chocolate products provide.

I am opposed to the proposed changes. DON'T MESS WITH OUR CHOCOLATE!
