From: Keefe Bailey [kwbailey@datamart.com] Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2006 12:10 PM To: Adjodha, Michael E Subject: End the use of AMALGAM Dear Mr.. Adjodha I and countless others are very concerned about the mercury contained in amalgam fillings. For years I, like others, had accepted amalgam fillings from my dentist, with confidence and without question. I no longer feel that way. I am concerned for a number of reasons, and ask for appropriate action from the FDA, including the following: FDA should order dentists to tell people about mercury and the reports on its negative effects.. The word "silver fillings" is deceptive and people should be enlightened.. Mercury fillings are no longer needed -- alternatives are available. Why doesn't the FDA want to be behind the rest of the world in protecting children? Why does the EPA say that Mercury is an extremely dangerous metal in the environment yet the FDA says it is safe to store in the human body in the form of Amalgam? The release of Mercury vapor in the mouth, a highly absorbent membrane in the body, is measurable and demonstrable. Mercury is a neuro-toxin that harms the developing brains of children and fetuses and must be officially recognized as such. It is known to cause a wide range of maladies in adults. For all of the reasons above, and more, amalgam fillings should be banned, and done so forthwith for children and pregnant women.
