Dear Mr. Adjodha,

 

 It is time to ban mercury amalgam fillings, especially for children and pregnant mothers. As a dental hygienist and a Master’s in biology, I know about the dangers of mercury and its release from amalgams. It is greatly detrimental to all and since there are alternatives available, they should be banned and insurance should be make to cover alternatives to them. Also dentists should be educated on removing them with special precautions for the patient and the staff. 

Let us end this obsolete treatment now.
