 As someone who is recovering from mercury toxicity due to mercury in dental

amalgam fillings and oral surgery involving amalgam, I am asking you to please

consider the following:





*    It is my strong belief that the FDA should allow, or even require, dentists and oral surgeons to advise patients about mercury in amalgam and its potential effects. -  



*    'Silver fillings' is a deceptive term, as amalgam is approximately 50% mercury. -  



*    Mercury fillings are no longer needed -- safer, bio-compatible alternatives are easily available, thus there is no need to continue to use this highly-toxic substance. Mercury hides in organ tissues and is difficult to remove, can be almost impossible to detect, but it can have devastating health effects. - 



*    Why do we want to be behind the rest of the world in

protecting children? -   



*    Mercury is a known neuro-toxin that harms the developing brains of children and fetuses, as well as adults, as I can testify; it is the second- most toxic substance on earth!  Placement where infection and bacteria are present can result in erosion of amalgam and the releasing of mercury as methylmercury, causing a host of illnesses, syndromes, and disorders! - 



*    Please ban amalgam now! -  



** I am currently following a mercury detoxification protocol and my health has improved dramatically.  Following dental procedures involving amalgam in 2004, I developed a list of symptoms too long to note here, finally resulting in seizures by EEG, documented in the autumn of 2004. These symptoms have all either been eliminated or have subsided greatly since beginning a mercury detoxification protocol that first consisted of safe amalgam removal using the IAOMT protocol, followed by diet changes and natural supplements, but they have significantly improved since beginning a low-dose DMSA protocol in early 2006. - 



Please do not allow the continued use of this toxic substance that affects the health of so many Americans!  There are innumerable illnesses of 'unknown etiology' that I am completely convinced are directly due to mercury used in dental amalgams in fillings and oral surgeries.  We are paying a high price by continuing to use something that is not only no longer needed, but is proven to be so highly toxic.-
