Dear Mr. Adjodha,

I am writing to you regarding the upcoming "Joint Meeting of the Dental Products Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health and the Peripheral and Central Nervous System Drugs Advisory Committee of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research." I urge your committee, after reviewing the appropriate data, to --at the very minimum-- initiate the creation of a mandatory requirement that all dental care providers inform patients of the dangers of mercury, and the existence of much healthier dental choices. Mercury is a neuro-toxin that harms the developing brains of children and fetuses. At the very minimum, it should be banned for children and pregnant women. I, myself, will undergo dental mercury removal this year, at a very high financial cost. But that financial cost is nothing compared to the years of ill health I have endured as a result of the mercury fillings placed in my teeth at an early age.

In addition to the personal toxicity it presents to the recipient, mercury residue from dental office waste and crematories is poisoning our air and water. With the convenience and durability of today's resin and ceramic composites, there is no justification for a technologically progressive nation to continue the use of mercury in any medical form whatsoever.

Respectfully,

Diane Harrell
