To the FDA:

Please do not allow the use of aborted fetus tissue or parts to create immunication vaccines for viruses. This is a bad idea for two fundamental reasons: 1) abortion, although legal, is highly repugnant to many citizens who through conscientious objection would have to oppose all public vaccination programs involving vaccines derived through use of body parts of innocent unborn children and 2) the use of killed fetuses for medical research continues the devaluation of human life already begun by abortion on demand, and muddies the ethical waters for those who are uneasy about abortion but support it as a woman's rights issue. By obtaining "good use" from aborted fetal parts, the abortion industry can pass off an essentially repugnant and immoral killing of human life in the womb as an unfortunate necessity from which good can be obtained. A good end does not justify an immoral means, in classic ethical thought. But our society is too ready to take the pragmatic, relatively recent idea that the ends do justify the means.

Opposition to vaccination programs that use vaccines produced with aborted fetal parts is guaranteed. It will become part of the political landscape in the ongoing battle between pro-choice and pro-life forces, a battle that will not end any time soon. The FDA serves the entire US population and ought not to involve itself in political controversy of this nature.
