As a registered nurse, I support research that leads to increased health and well-being in the world community, but only if ethically accomplished. The use of aborted fetal tissue for medical research is grossly unethical and comparable with the research techniques of Nazi Germany, who used tissue samples from the victims of their genocide to perform medical research. My two main arguments are these: 1, That because the ethics of using fetal cells for research is questioned by a large number of Americans, it should not be allowed by a government agency that represents the people; and 2, That there are many other types of cell lines and even stem cell lines not derived from fetal tissue that have already proved useful to medical research.
