Dear FDA,

This letter is in response to the FDA invitation for public comment on the Industry Guidelines for development of cell-based viral vaccines. We would like to comment on the use of human diploid cell lines, MRC-5, WI-38, HEK-293, IMR-90, PER C6 and any other cell substrates that may arise in the future which are derived from electively aborted fetuses.

As a citizen concerned with both moral values and the health of our families, I request government intervention to ensure the creation of vaccines from non-objectionable sources. Why should you risk endangering the population as a whole by producing vaccines that a large number of people will refuse out of moral concerns?

I will promote companies and products that do not use aborted fetal cell lines, and I will boycott those that do. It is in the best interests of our country to provide ethical vaccines that all Americans may use in good conscience! There are ethical alternatives to aborted fetal material and I beg you to use these alternatives!

Sincerely,
Ruth McClone
