GENERAL
GENERAL
I am writing to ask that the FDA permit only the use of vaccines produced from ethical cell lines and not those derived from fetal tissue (whether the abortion occurred in the 1960s or 2000s is irrelevant to the immorality of profitting from an inherently evil act). In 2005, the Pontifical Academy for Life called upon all Catholics to fight for ethical vaccines, and as both a concerned Catholic and a concerned citizen, I am asking the FDA to take this step. My family conscientiously objects to "tainted" vaccines, and we pray for the approval of ethical alternatives that we can use in good conscience.

I have a genetic disorder. I want a cure, but if I were offered a 100% cure that was derived from embryonic stem cell or fetal tissue research, I would refuse it completely. Much less do I believe in using prophylactic treatments, which themselves have questionable side-effects, that are derived from fetal tissue, especially when there are other behavioral and sanitational ways of preventing disease.

As a citizen, a Catholic and an ethicist, I urge the FDA to stop the use of fetal cell lines in US vaccines.
