| I believe that the use of aborted fetal cell lines for vaccines will create a market for aborted fetal cells and hence for abortions. Our technology advances much faster than our ability to establish ethical guidelines. For example, the replacement of vital body parts, although worthy in principle, has led to such a demand for these parts that, in the case where the donor is a last-wish person, there is some suspicion that parts are being removed from the donor before clinical death.
So also, vaccines are worthy and their development is noble. But we were aghast at methods the Nazis used to advance medicine. For example, we would not want to kill living persons in order to advance medicine. But this is exactly what we will be doing by creating a market for abortion. William A.
