GENERAL
Propofol, in my opinion can be a very dangerous drug in less than experienced hands. The drug is a sedative/anesthetic agent, but the fact that it can render any patient apneic and thus predispose to hypoxia at even sub-anesthetic doses obviates its use by trained personel that can manage hypoxia ie. intubation and maintanance of the airway. The ultimate question is if it were you receiving an anesthetic drug with the potential of causing apnea, wouldn't you want someone trained in airway mangement overseeing your care?
