| In my opinion perscription drugs should be chosen by a Doctor in consultation with the patient. The individual consumer doesn't have the knowledge to apply these drugs themselves and often overloooks both the side effects and other consequences of these drugs.
Advertising plays into this. Just like little children are successfully lured into McDonalds with Happy Meal advertising many Americans are taking drugs they don't need just because of the advertising.
I reccomend restricitng the advertising of perscription drugs to publications and media aimed at medical doctors and requireing a full disclosure of drug interactions and side effects in that advertising.
