| Dear FDA Commissioner,
Among all of the misleading deceptive DTC ads being relentlessley broadcast to a gullible public are those shamelessly hawking psychotropic drugs.
It is unconscionable that psycoactive substance ads fraudulently imply safety and effectiveness of drugs which alter brain chemicals, deliberately omitting and misrepresenting true data that is well known by the manufacturers and the FDA. DTC ads fail to adequately warn of the worldwide restrictions placed on several catagories of psychoactive drugs because of suicides in teens and excess deaths in the elderly, don't mention addictive potential and withdrawal effects, and conveniently omit the fact that the mechanism of action is entirely unknown and only speculated.
As a physician I urge you to take immediate action to ban all DTC advertising for psychoactive substances.
