| I think the use of advertisements for prescription drugs to the consumer is deplorable, particularly the number that I am seeing for depression and other various mental conditions in the popular media. Psychiatry and the drug companies would have us believe that all problems a person feels in life can be cured by taking a 'magic pill'. If a patient truly needs a medication, their health care professional is well aware of what is available and should only prescribe what is actually necessary.
Targeting consumers, trying to convince tham they have a condition that needs treating (meaning the purchasing of the particular firm's drugs) is not what the society needs. It leads further into a drug-culture mentality.
