I am a "former" mental patient who is a consumer activist in the mental health area. I am astounded that the psychiatric drug companies are allowed to advertise powerful drugs that alter the mind, using spurious claims for their effectiveness. The ads both lie to consumers as to the real usefulness of the drugs to emotionally traumatized people, and portray an inaccurate picture of mental health consumers as being powerless to fight against a "genetic imbalance' or against a psychiatric disease that may or may not even exist. Make the psychiatric drug companies prove their claims or make them take their ads off the media. Where exactly are the studies that say that Zoloft cures an imbalance of hormones? Sugar pills work as well as the drugs oftentimes.
