GENERAL
I think the advertising of regulated medical products directly to consumers through various media channels is illogical and should be illegal. It should be up to doctors to determine what medications, if any, are best for an individual. Prescriptions should not be motivated by slick advertising campaigns which encourage consumers to self-diagnose themselves, particularly for many mental illnesses which arguably have no scientific basis. Sure it is supposedly up to the doctors ultimately, but they should not have to deal with the added and false pressure of consumers who, because they saw a 30 second commercial, think something is wrong with themselves and they should take a particular medicine. What should be done is what is best for the patient, not what the pharmaceutical companies market.
