| We know that consumers buy cigarettes and alcohol and that sales are battled for by the producers of same by clever, clever advertising. When did it become all right for pharmaceutical companies to enter that arena? We have legislation that says that only doctors can prescribe, so the pharmacreeps get around this by saying "ask your doctor if X is right for you!" Egad. And what do the ads look like? Emotional appeal out the wazoo! Pretty little children looking worried, pretty mommies looking troubled. Gorgeous men looking anxious. So we can identify with all the pretty people and decide we have their problems? And each ad, if in a magazine, takes two pages, because the BACK SIDE of the ad is a full page of warnings and disclaimers in print so fine that no one will ever read it.
This is a farce beyond bearing, and I look to you to put an end to it, please.
