GENERAL
As a health professional it is very disconcerting to view the advertisements promoted by the drug industry. It seems there is no end to how low they will stoop to get the public to buy. They have for a long time bypassed the health professional and promoted directly to a largely uninformed public, touting the questionable nature of their products, blatantly announcing the side effects in a manner that says 'that's the way it is supposed to be'. And now they are making claims that are simply unprovable to sell more drugs to an unsuspecting and trusting public. Something should definitely be done to curb the unbridled promotion and the enthusiasm with which the drug industry promotes ineffective and costly chemical substances. We are in more danger from this than we are from street drugs. The FDA should wake up and assert its primary purpose, which is to PROTECT the public.
