| Plan B has been reviewed in the US and found safe. Plan B has been in use on other countries for many years, and it has been found safe.
At least two members of the FDA have resigned in protest over the blatant politicizing of this issue.
So what is the excuse for the FDA not acting on this?
Plan B has been proven safe and effective, provided it is used within the recommeded time frame of 72 hours. The earlier it is taken the more effective it is. The more effective it is the higher the reduction in unintended pregnancies. Fewer unintended pregnancies mean fewer abortions. What about this do you not get?
There are many areas in this country where pharmacists decide what legally written prescriptions they will fill. Since Plan B's effectiveness is directly related to the timeliness, this is yet another roadblock put in our way to prevent us from taking care of our own health. Women are not children. Women are adults entitled to the same respect men receive when they fill prescriptions. I have yet to hear of any pharmacist refusing to fill a viagra prescription! Do they ask if they are married first? Do they decide they are too old to need viagra? No- they fill the prescription. Why are women not entitled to the same respect? Enough with the politics. Approve it already!
Save your religious preaching and holier than thou attitudes for your churches, where they belong.
Here's a little newsflash- the entire country is not Fundalmentalist, nor is the entire country Christian. Public health policies are to benefit the PUBLIC HEALTH, not to satisfy the narrow, twisted agenda of the right wing.
Stop playing your politics with my body, my sisters' bodies, and our daughters' bodies. Plan B works. It's time for the FDA to stop playing polical games and allow OTC status.
