| After seeing the choices for comments above I realize that dealing with an agency such as the FDA it is nearly impossible to direct comments to the real issues at hand here. The real issue here is whether or not the FDA will allow minors to perform abortions themselves. Granted, this is not the type of an abortion that takes place in a clinic or a doctor's office, but it is an abortion just the same. It is stopping a human life that may have already started. Even though abortion may be legal that doesn't make it right. I would also be interested in hearing the thoughts of those members of the FDA who have 16-year-old daughters who can't wait for this product to become available so that they can use it on a regular basis.
Granted, I am not a lawyer, or a doctor, or a pharmacist, nor am I employed in the medical or legal fields. I am an ordinary citizen that realizes that it is finally time to speak out against policies that endanger the future of our country by chipping away at our moral fiber and calling it "choice". I am also the father of three daughters ages 23, 20, and 13. They were taught morals and right from wrong rather than given choices of how to cover up a sinful life. They are saving themselves for marriage rather than indulging in promiscuous sex and I am very proud of them for making that decision. You see, it becomes harder and harder for parents who want to teach their children values and proper morals to do so when agencies such as yours work to make contraceptivies and drugs for abortions so readily available to whomever wants them.
I wish more folks would face the real issues here and just not the legal issues. As I had stated before, just because something is legal doesn't make it right. I hope you folks do the right thing and bar this substance - not only for OTC sales but for prescriptions as well.
Thank you for your time.
