GENERAL
I strongly urge you the legalization of over the counter emergency contraception distribution. EC is safe and highly effective. Forcing women to get a prescription before they can obtain Plan B is an unwise, unnecessary, and unpragmatic burden to impose on all women, especially poor women who may not have access to a physician. Moreover, requiring a physician's prescription increases the total cost of EC dramatically. The FDA is charged with vital health policy decisions, and failing to legalize Plan B over the counter would signal an adherence to partisan politics rather than a firm commitment to the health and welfare of all citizens: a concept that should be divorced of political influence. The medical facts speak for themselves.
