| The labeling of foods are extremely misleading. It is especially difficult for those with celiac disease to discern which foods are acceptable for them to eat when the labeling is so misleading. For instance something labeled malt flavoring should state clearly what is the source of the flavoring. "Food starch" or "modified food starch" should state what kind of food starch is used. WHen such generic names are used in the ingredients it makes it dangerous for those with food allergies to eat them. It is extremely important that this issue be proberly addressed for the health and well- being of those of us who are afflicted with food allergies.
I ask, on behalf of all those who suffer from food allergies, to pass a strong bill mandating complete and honest labeling of all ingredients used in preparing foods.
Please remember that when people get sick, many of whom have no insurance, it costs everyone money. Support the public and the private interests who oppose such labeling laws.
