I would appreciate all food and drug labels indicating if the item is 'Gluten Free' or not. I have Celiac Disease and even the smallest ingestion of Gluten destroys my small intestine. I spend numerous hours reading labels before I can purchase a product. Gluten is hidden in alot of ingredients so I have to compare all ingredients before purchasing a product. It would be most helpful if the items specifically identified all ingredients that are in a particular product and also the source of those ingredients as well. For example, a label may list 'caramel coloring' as an ingredient. This information does not tell me the source of this coloring is barley (which I cannot ingest) or coal (which I can). Without accurate information, I must choose to not purchase the item. Not only does that restrict the number of products I can use and enjoy, it also reduces the number of products from which companies can make profits. Also if an item is processed on the same equipment as wheat I cannot consume that item, it is considered contaminated. When an item states it is 'Gluten Free', I do not hesitate and will , purchase it in a minute without even looking further. All food and drugs that I buy have to be Gluten Free, it's a matter of my health and well being.
Please consider changing the food and drug labels. You will not only serve the Celiac Community, but all those who deal with food allergies and sensitivities. Thank you for your time in this matter.
