GENERAL
I AM SENDING THIS COMMENT ON FOOD LABELING FOR GLUTEN FREE ITEMS. ALL LABELS, ALL RESTAURANTS ECT SHOULD HAVE SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE SERVING OR SELLING. I WOULD,LIKE TO BE ABLE TO DETERMINE OF A PRODUCT HAS GLUTEN IN IT, HAD BEEN PROCESSED IN A FACILITY THAT MAKES OTHER GLUTEN PRODUCT. ALL LABELS SHOULD HAVE INFORMATION ON WHAT ALLERGENS ARE IN THE PRODUCTS. I FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY ALLERGENS IN FOOD PRODUCTS. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE HIDDEN IN THE INGREDIANTS UNDER SEASONINGS, AND ARTIFICIAL ITEMS, FOOD STARCHES. IT IS VERY TIME CONSUMING TO FIND OUT WHAT ALLERGENS ARE IN FOODS YOU BUY IN THE GROCERY STORES. I BRING IN MY FOOD GUIDE NOTEBOOK AND LOOK UP EACH ITEM. I FEEL THAT ONLY 10%, IF THAT OF FOODS ON THE MARKET ARE LABELED TO INCLUDED GLUTEN PRODUCTS TO BE IDENTIFIED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. IF I SEE GLUTEN FREE ON THE LABEL, I ALWAYS BUY THAT PRODUCT OVER ANYONE ELSE'S. LAYS POTATO CHIPS HAVE NOW BEGUN LABELING THERE PRODUCTS MUCH BETTER. SO I BUY THEIR BRANDS. WE NEED SPECIFIC LABELING ON EACH PRODUCT SHOWING WHAT GRAIN PRODUCTS ARE IN THE FOOD. IF THE PRDUCTS IS GLUTEN FREE THERE SHOULD HAVE TO BE A LABEL SOMEWHERE ON THE PRODUCT TO INDICATE THIS. THIS IT A LIFE OR DEATH PROBLEM, AND IT IS SO HARD TO FIND PRODUCTS THAT ARE GLUTEN FREE. INGESTING GLUTEN CAN BE JUST AS DEADLY TO CELIAC PATIENTS AS NUTS ARE TO PEOPLE THAT ARE ALLERGIC TO NUTS.
