| Dear Sir or Madam:
The National Fisheries Institute requests a 30 day extension of the comment period for Docket 2004D-0510, Guidance for Industry: Proposed Referral Program from FDA to NOAA Seafood Inspection Program for Certification of Live and Perishable Fish and Fishery Products for Export to the EU and EU FTA. The proposed referral program has significant potential impact on the costs and practices of seafood exporters that handle live and persihable fish products sent to the EU. NFI is collecting information and comments from its members so we can prepare a response to FDA concerning this program, however, we are experiencing some complications due to the hectic pace of the Holiday Season and its related activity among our member firms. The Christmas-New Year period is a particularly busy time for seafood firms and this is hampering our abililty to collect the necessary input from some of our affected members. An addition 30 days would provide time after the Holidays to focus on this issue and compile comments for submission. Please let me know if an extension will be granted. Thank you in advance.
