After reviewing the document, the AOPHA Health Committee (we represent the Ohio non-profit providers of services to the aging) has asked me to submit the following general comment on their behalf: “In order to reduce the risk of hospital bed entrapment, the individual who will be using the bed must be individually assessed and monitored for entrapment risks relating to the bed. The size and condition of each patient, as well as the mattress fit, etc. differs in each situation and individualized assessment and monitoring is the best means of preventing injury. In addition, a mattress replacement program should be maintained by all facilities.” Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Paulette Luneborg, BSN, RN Director of Regulatory Relations AOPHA 855 S.
