| As a consumer I would request required labeling of cloned or clone-derived foods. While it may be completely safe, I do not feel sufficient long- term studies have been made; and there may be unintended consequences. I would make comparisons with the problems of BSE (Mad Cow Disease) in the UK - the problem itself only became visible many years after diseased animal parts started to be processed into feed stock after improper treatment. I'm sure that a clear label on foods explaining how the cattle were fed would have been unpopular with the UK cattle breeders, but I'm sure the families of the victims would have preferred their loved ones to have been able to choose. I know that when I lived in the UK during the 'at risk' period, I would have chosen to pay a little extra for naturally fed meat.
