| As a consumer, I am highly concerned about food products from cloned animals being introduced into the US food supply. Didn't you learn anything from the fiasco of feeding cows beef? Yes, it looked "safe" on the surface, but we wound up with all kinds of illnesses as a result. The long term effects of cloned foods consumption has not been studied. Animals only started being cloned a little over a decade ago.
If this is allowed to happen, I will go vegan. I have many friends who agree with me. Not being given the option of recognizing avoiding these products will make me ban them from my life altogether. From an economic standpoint, the meat suppliers and dairies of this country cannot afford to lose young consumers like myself who still consume and enjoy their products. When this report was released yesterday, meat stocks plummeted. This trend will continue.
I thought that the FDA was supposed to safe guard the American population. If that is indeed the goal, the best method would be giving us information to protect ourselves. If some people want to eat cloned food products, that is their choice. However, we all deserve to be given adequate information regarding what we consume.
Labels on cloned foods should be mandatory.
Thank you for your time.
