In fact, anyone who reads the www.aspartame.com site with a half a brain and a bit of medical knowledge will see that. 1. Monsanto admits to "small amounts of formaldehyde" in aspartame but claims small amounts won't hurt you. Not true according to several studies, some of which have been published in Journal of the American Medical Assn which states that even trace amounts of formaldehyde such as obtained from breathing fumes from asbestos dust, can store up in the tissues and cause serious neurological problems years later. 2. Monsanto admits that aspartame contains methyl (which is also in "wood alcohol") but again states that this cannot be dangerous because fruit juice has MORE methyl than aspartame. Partially true but fruit juice also contains ETHYL which neutralizes the methyl so what is in fruit juice cannot damage a person neurologically like aspartame can. 3. OK, let's look at this another way. When ANY sweet taste is felt in the mouth, the body begins to produce insulin in preparation for what it THINKS is sugar. But when no sugar follows, we are left with higher levels of insulin in the blood stream which can cause, among other things, a weight gain. Richard Simmons states that when he gave up drinking diet pop, he LOST 13 lbs without making ANY OTHER CHANGE in his diet or exercise program. So see, that aspartame is a chemical poison is a no brainer. Insulting people who carry that message like Betty Martini, doesn't change the truth. It's just hurtful and besides whether you admit it or not, if you consume aspartame you WILL subject yourself to the risk of serious health problems. But of course, perhaps you are smarter than to consume aspartame but just don't want to be politically incorrect by warning people about it. Some of us don't share that view and feel it is important to warn people. Sue Widemark against aspartame after it FIRST CAME OUT and I looked at the ingredients... LONG before dorway.com or any of the others. http://healthread.org ----- Original Message ----- >At 10:35 AM 12/1/2004, Gordon, Randy HS wrote: > >Maybe you are right about aspartame, I don't know.
