Cathy, if you call militant advising a writer that writing about a product that contains deadly aspartame is selling death, you obviously have no concern for public health. I ask you how you can work for an industry (originally Searle) who bought the prosecutors (Skinner and Conlon) who wanted to indict them under Title 18, Section 1001. Both hired on with Sidley and Austin, the defense team. You haven't had to calm down hysterical mothers who gave birth to babies with aspartame brain tumors. Read the secret trade information on www.dorway.com where Searle admitted almost complete conversion to DKP, the brain tumor agent, and said if they told the FDA they wouldn't approve it. Read the government records especially from FDA toxicologists, Dr. Adrian Gross and Dr. Jacqueline Verrett, who tell how Searle lied, and lied and lied, and how they filtered out what they didn't want the FDA to know. So these exterminators didn't care if the population came down with brain tumors and other horrors, they only wanted their addictive poison approved so they would have a cash cow. Then they did studies in South America sacrificing people in poor villages, which caused brain tumors and seizures and hardened the synovial fluids. These studies showed that aspartame destroys the brain and central nervous system. All this is now documented in medical texts exposing these problems triggered by aspartame to the world. Rather than publish the studies which showed how deadly their product is they hid the facts from the public, a crime. Now knowing that aspartame hardens the synovial fluids causing the agonizing joint pain they make Celebrex to see if they can make another billion on the suffering of the public they caused. But from the reports and deaths from Celebrex it becomes obvious it interacts with aspartame. Of course, as Dr. James Bowen says since aspartame damages the mitochondria of the cell or the life, it would interact with all drugs. So more people die. It's so easy to do a study on aspartame and show how deadly it is, the aspartame industry has threatened researchers from doing independent studies, and tried to prevent them. Dr. Walton showed in his research on scientific peer reviewed studies and funding that at least 92% of all independent or unbiased research shows the problems aspartame causes, and only controlled and funded research by the aspartame industry has ever said it was safe. Read the UPI investigation where the Vice President of Searle threatened Dr. Wurtman that if he did studies on seizures his research funds would be rejected and they were. He didn't deny he threatened him. What gall. Dr. Wurtman doesn't speak out on aspartame anymore and MIT gets their research funds but Dr. Wurtman left quite a paper trail the aspartame industry can't change. In l985 Searle was bought by Monsanto. I'll never forget the cries of Kelli Motluck who had an aspartame brain tumor. She kept saying over and over again "I want to live, I want to live, I want to live, but if I die, promise me you will tell the world that Monsanto murdered me." After she died I kept my promise and many times end lectures with her words. I would suggest that you read the 60 page racketeering case against NutraSweet and their spin doctor, Dr. Robert Moser, and Monsanto. Read the lies and deceit and chicanery of the aspartame industry. Dr. Marvin Legator, professor and director of environmental toxicology at the University of Texas and the pioneer of mutagenicity testing at the FDA from l962 to l972 was asked by Common Cause Magazine to review the FDA investigation results of G. D. Searle's tests (Graves l984, page S5498 of Congressional Record l985 a): "(All tests were) scientifically irresponsible and disgraceful. I'm just shocked that that kind of sloppy work would even be sent to FDA, and that the FDA administrators accepted it. There is no reason why these tests couldn't have been carried out correctly. It's not that we are talking about some great scientific breakthrough in methodology." Even though after Rumsfeld said he would call in his markers and get aspartame approved which he did, with it being approved in l981, it was never proven safe. Dr. Jacqueline Verrett, FDA toxicologist, said in her testimony before the U.S. Senate in l987: "It would appear that the safety of aspartame and its breakdown products has still not been satisfactorily determined. Since many of the flaws cited in these three studies were also present in all of the other studies submitted by Searle." She also told Congress that ALL studies were built on a foundation of sand and should have been thrown out. The Board of Inquiry of the FDA said aspartame was not safe, triggered brain tumors and the petition for approval is hereby revoked. If Rumsfeld had not intervened and Dr. Hayes had not over-ruled the Board of Inquiry this deadly poison would not have ever made the market to poison the world. This Sunday School teacher who helped the homeless was sentenced to 50 years for a crime committed by the aspartame industry. Then there was the case of the man who had an aspartame blackout and went 6 blocks asleep and killed 3 people. He spent 5 years in prison and says his life has been destroyed. So get this straight, Cathy Gordon, anytime aspartame is advertised in anything and we know about it we're going to write about it. You will note since Coke and Pepsi have been sued they are reformulating. They have no defense - read the protest of the National Soft Drink Association on www.dorway.com . They knew the gun was loaded. Be glad I'm a lady or I would tell you exactly what you could do after writing victims of the aspartame industry poison because they warned. But I can remind you of a couple of scriptures "they will receive within themselves the recompense for their error". And I like the one in Jeremiah "the wicked will sleep a perpetual sleep and never awaken". Searle lied and had no concern about poisoning the public. In the words of the late FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross who was also a Task Force member: (Wilson 1985): "They ( G. D. Searle) lied and they didn't submit the real nature of their observations because had they done that it is more than likely that a great number of these studies would have been rejected simply for adequacy. What Searle did, they took great pains to camouflage these shortcomings of the study. As I say filter and just present to the FDA what they wished the FDA to know and they did other terrible things for instance animals would develop tumors while they were under study. Well, they would remove these tumors from the animals." I don't know how the racketeering charges were only 60 pages long. I think I could write 60 pages of just the lies of the aspartame industry because everything is a matter of public record, and we provide that record all over the world. In the words of Dr. James Bowen to the FDA after he got Lou Gehrigs from aspartame: "..the only responsible action would be to immediately take aspartame off the market, fully disclose its toxicities, offer full compensation to the injured, public and criminally prosecute anyone who participated in the fraudulent placement of aspartame on the marketplace. That includes those who work so diligently to keep it on the market as well." The millions of lives wrecked may never be fully known. My heart goes out to the woman who used aspartame during three pregnancies and has 3 autistic children. She and her husband work two jobs to create a fund to take care of these three children when they are no longer around. An entire family's life wrecked. The aspartame industry lies and denies continually with full knowledge because all records are public. Those responsible for this poison that damages DNA, so you're talking about survival of the human race, should be charged with genocide. And when they are gone, I'll be happy to quote the words of Dr. James Bowen when a key figure died, "Good riddance to bad rubbish." The industry doesn't even have the decency to put a warning for pregnancy women so they are baby killers!
