GENERAL
I urge the FDA to maintain a ban on downers from entering any part of the meat and feed system for human and animals. This is not only for the sake of preventing the possible spread of infectious prion diseases but also for the sake of ensuring humane treatment of animals. If downers have no value to the industry, industry practices would have an incentive to improve their practices for a safer supply of meat and feed and for humane and better quality treatment of animals.
