 The hygiene measures proposed are very important. However, also attention should be paid to the transavarion transmission. Day-old chicks may already be contaminated with S.Enteritidis,. Therefore, in addition to the proposed program it will be necessary that day old chicks are free of S.Enteritidis. Therefore it is advised also to satrat a program in the breeding sector to eliminate (by testing and stamping out)parentflocks that are contaminated by S.Enteritidis
