| The 5/18/2004 Institute of Medicine Vaccine Safety Review (IOM VSR) Committee report made it crystal clear that the Centers for Disease Control CDC) covered up the largest iatrogenic catastrophe in history: the wholesale poisoning of a generation of children (up to 400,000 in the United States) through thimerosal-laced vaccines and other drugs. The Executive Summary of the IOM VSR Committee report elucidated that the VSR would only view epidemiology studies in higher regard than physiological and biochemical studies and that only epidemiological studies 'cherry-picked' by the IOM VSR Committee would be considered valid.
Unfortunately, each study that the IOM VSR Committee deemed as 'credible' and 'scientifically sound' could be linked directly to the CDC or vaccine manufacturers. The Verstraeten et al. 2004 study actually originated within the CDC and underwent at least 4 different 'transformations' in which causal findings between thimerosal exposure and neurodevelopmental disorders became progressily more dilute. When the probability of results between just two versions of the study were analyzed, it was found that the statistical likelihood that the these results would be confirmed through repeated, equally weighted data treatments (i.e., successive reduction in correlation between studies) was less than 0.4%. Additionally, the authors of the study have numerous ties to vaccine manufacturers, most notably to Glaxo-Smithkline where Dr. Verstraeten is now employed.
The Madsen et al. 2003 Pediatrics study was also completed by researchers having financial ties to the CDC while the Madsen et al. 2002 New England Journal of Medicine study was funded directly by the CDC. These studies were also tied via financial relationships to the State Serum Institute, a for profit Danish company whose revenues primarily are derived from vaccine manufacture. The Stehr-Green et al. 2003 American Journal of Preventive Medicine study was coauthored by Dr. Diane Simpson who was employed by the National Immunization Program (NIP) at the CDC. Finally, the Andrews et al. 2004 Pediatrics study (which had not been published at the time of issuance of the 5/18/04 flawed report, a reason for which the IOM VSR Committee had previously disregarded publications [Marie McCormick, personal correspondence, 2001]) was coauthored by Dr. Elizabeth Miller who has financial ties with Baxter Healthcare, Wyeth Lederle Vaccines, Chiron, and Aventis Pasteur.
Finally, strong and compelling allegations have surfaced that the CDC NIP predictated the outcomes of the IOM VSR Committee meetings and reports. In a very public exchange between Dr. Andrew Wakefield and Dr. Kathleen Stratton at the May 2004 Autism One Conference, Dr. Wakefield indicated that closed door meeting transcripts of the IOM VSR committee indicated that the CDC had told the Chair of the IOM VSR committee that the committee was NOT to find a causal relationship between the MMR vaccination and autism. Dr. Stratton would not deny or confirm these allegations but instead chastised Dr. Wakefield for viewing documents that were not for ?outsiders.? Other credible allegations have surfaced in which the same has been stated regarding the CDC predictating that the IOM VSR would NOT find a causal relationship between thimerosal exposure and autism. I personally have asked this question to Dr. Julie Gerberding, Director of the CDC, who refused to answer my letters, as well as to Ms. Suzanne Stoiber, Executive Director the IOM, who hung up the phone as I asked the question. I can find no one with access to this information who will publicly refute these allegations.
Further neurodevelopmental maladies brought on by the reckless use of thimerosal need to cease. Indeed 400,000 cases of autism linked to mercury
| exposure are enough evidence to stop the wholesale poisoning of America?s children.
