As an alcohol rehabilitation counselor you should know there is free methyl alcohol liberated from aspartame. Methanol is classified as a narcotic. The chronic methanol poisoning affects the dopamine system of the brain and causes addiction. While the FDA loves to snatch healthy supplements for industry, they should be brought up on charges for allowing this to be marketed. Some consumers have said it was easier to get off cocaine than aspartame. Second, no, Sweet N Low in the US contains saccharin. In Greece, however, there is aspartame in it. Never use Splenda it has a chlorinated base like DDT and can cause autoimmune disease. Go to www.wnho.net and click on aspartame and read some of Dr. Mercola's reports on it. There is even a picture of a reaction to Splenda. It is a chlorinated hydrocarbon. Chlorinated hydrocarbons like DDT, Deldran, Chlorodane and Lindane are used to kill bugs. I suggested to one university perhaps a study should be done to see if Splenda kills bugs. But I certainly would not put it in my mouth. A new study has come out showing artificial sweeteners actually cause weight gain. I don't know why anyone would put a chemical in their mouth. Even diabetics who are looking for something to replace sugar can use Stevia which you can get in any health food store. It has been used in Brazil for thousands of years as a sweetener and helps in the metabolism of sugar, but it is an herb not a chemical. The FDA approved it only as a dietary supplement because they are the handmaiden of the pharmaceutical industry who wants no competition for their NutraPoison. One of the best products is made by Stevita Company in Dallas. And Oscar Rodes has about 500 studies showing safety. Some years ago the FDA made a real fool of themselves trying to get the Stevita Company to burn their cookbooks to assist industry. I have copies of several letters where people wrote the FDA to tell them someone died of aspartame. The FDA had no concern whatsoever and just sent them their propaganda rag, the FDA Consumer, lying about the safety of aspartame and enclosing a sheet warning about Stevia. This in itself shows you the FDA has no concern whatsoever for safe food and drugs, and is the one agency in the US who has done the most to approve unsafe food and drugs, responsible for the mass poisoning of this planet. Be sure to get your copy of Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World (Cori@soundandfuryproductions.com) - this will tell you the whole story - newly released movie. Because there are 500 studies showing safety and Oscar recently sent me three more studies showing it safe in a study on diabetics and a study using diabetic rats, the FDA had nothing to use to try and prevent the public from using it. So up comes a study that is in reality an experiment in animal cruelty, done by a student and financed by a lab in Brazil nobody ever heard of or can find. Look how far industry goes to stumble in violation of Title 18, Section 1001 of the criminal code which forbids misleading the public. Industry also got it outlawed in the European Union. I spoke to them in Brussels and they told me they were no studies on safety of Stevia. When I told them we had 500 and would send them they didn't want them and wouldn't give an address when I asked. They have people on their committee from industry. Also be sure to read Larry Hagman's comments on www.dorway.com on how Stevia saved his life, and that aspartame is simply a plague. There is also a safe sweetener list on www.dorway.com and www.holisticmed.com/aspartame and I believe its also on www.wnho.net click on aspartame. You can get Dr. H. J. Roberts books, especially the medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, at www.sunsentpress.com and Dr. Russell Blaylock's books at www.russellblaylockmd.com They will help you tremendously in your work. There is a complete list of books although new ones are now out on www.dorway.com All my best, Betty At 09:47 AM 7/3/2004, Lori Williams wrote: >Hello all! >I just want to thank everyone who is involved in this group.
