This will reduce the risk of infectivity by 99.8%. Please do not require the removal of all SRM's, by removing all SRM's it only improves the risk reduction by 0.1%, but will cost more than $157,000,000 per year and cause a huge environmental problem. Concerning ruminant derived blood meal. I understand you are considering removing ruminant blood meal from ruminant feed. I understand there is no scientific justification for this and that even Europe with its BSE problem hasn't removed ruminant blood meal from ruminant feed. Further, it would cost the US industry, cattlemen and dairymen at least $150,000,000 per year. I'm asking you to carefully consider my requests regarding these issues. Respectfully, James Dahl Operations Manger Pacific Northwest District (360)384-1101
