| To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to you because I am concerned that more measures have not been taken to ensure the public and animal safety in regard to Mad Cow Disease. I am asking that the FDA implement the following:
--Prohibit the use of blood, poultry litter, plate waste, and ALL other animal products (with the exception of milk) in feed for all farm animals, not just ruminants.
--Prohibit the use of downed animals, animals exhibiting signs of central nervous system disorders, 'dead stock' (animals that have died on the farm), and 'specified risk materials' (e.g., cow brain and spinal cord tissue) in pet food. The pet food ban is necessary because cats are known to be susceptible to BSE.
Thank you for taking the time to review my comments.
