From: SOJOURNTVL@aol.com Sent: Friday, August 06, 2004 3:14 PM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: "Docket No. 2004N-0264" Dear Sir/Madam: Please take immediate measures to ban mad cow disease by doing the following: 1. Prohibit the use of blood, poultry litter, plate waste, and ALL other animal products (with the exception of milk) in feed for all farm animals, not just ruminants. 2. Prohibit the use of downed animals, animals exhibiting signs of central nervous system disorders, "dead stock" (animals that have died on the farm), and "specified risk materials" (e.g., cow brain and spinal cord tissue) in pet food. The pet food ban is necessary because cats are known to be susceptible to BSE. I am upset that I need to write a letter to support the safety of our food supply.
