For those of you unfamiliar with NBCC, it is one of the largest and most policy savvy cancer patient advocacy organizations in the U.S. Founded by Fran Visco more than 10 years ago following her breast cancer diagnosis, NBCC is now a 600 member organization representing 60,000 patient advocates. There is a tremendous amount of "chatter" about this petition in the cancer patient advocacy community and we are aware of other groups planning to send letters to the docket. Frank Burroughs [The Abigail Alliance] and Ellen Stovall [the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship] also appeared on a segment on the NBC Today show earlier this week discussing "compassionate use." We have heard that many of the organized cancer patient advocacy groups are strongly opposed to the "Tier 1 Proposal." In case you did not receive it I am also attaching Karen Schifter's guidance on FDA staff interactions with the public regarding the Abigail Alliance Citizen's Petition and the WLF lawsuit.
