My best suggestion to reduce the obesity problem in the U.S. would be to bring back home economics education in the public schools, and start teaching kids about nutrition in the early grades of elementary school. Physical education goes hand in hand with this and should be stepped up. Having an understanding of human nutrition and knowing how to prepare healthy meals are vital. Parents' ability to pass along knowledge in these topics is quite uneven. Therefore, to level the field, courses in nutrition and at least some cooking should be required in the high school curriculum. Thanks for considering these suggestions, although I realize reinstating home ec is probably well beyond the scope of the Food and Drug Administration. Hope it helps.
