Food Club Tartar Sauce - this e-mail is from (privacy): My son recently experienced an anaphalatic reaction to Food Club brand Tartar Sauce. I spoke to the manufacturers of the product and there is undeclared egg in this product. They claim they didn't know it was missing from the ingredient list. They stated they have corrected the labeling error and will be inssuing a recall. The same day we were contacted by Carriage House Companies, who make this tartar sauce, and they issued an alert that the product is being recalled. Progresso Steak Soup, Beef & Vegetable - (privacy) called to tell us her 2-year-old son, allergic to milk, egg, and peanut, had a reaction. He ate 3 teaspoons of this soup, and within 5 minutes started coughing, had a great deal of phlegm, and vomited. She suspects the soup contained milk, since this is his typical reaction to milk. When she called the manufacturer, the girl told her to look at the statement below the ingredient declaration that said "Contains wheat, soy, and milk." (privacy) can said nothing about milk. The statement on hers read "Contains wheat and soy." The girl then told her she must be looking at an old label, and then got back to (privacy) and told her the code on the top of the can indicated that milk had not been on the line for 11 hours prior to the time it was stamped. (privacy) froze the remainder of the soup and would like to have it tested. Carr's Table Water Crackers - (privacy) called to tell us her 14-month-old son, who is allergic to milk and egg, had two reactions. The first time he broke out in eczema and had a swollen eye and dark circles under his eyes. Not knowing what had caused the reaction, (privacy) gave him these crackers on another day. He ate 2 and immediately had a red rash around his mouth. A little later he had eczema and eye swelling. Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - (privacy) called to tell us she bought this candy at Party City for her child, who is a fan of the Harry Potter characters. The package says it is made by Jelly Belly exclusively for Cap Candy. The ingredients are listed in English, French, and Spanish. In the English version there is nothing about peanuts, but the French and Spanish versions have a warning about peanut. Mariapple's Cookies, Lemon Flurry and Chocolate Fudge - (privacy) called to tell us the ingredients do not list powdered sugar, but there is powdered sugar on the cookies. Her child is allergic to corn. _______________________________________ Debbie Scherrer, Member Communications The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network 10400 Eaton Place, Suite 107 Fairfax, VA 22030 1-800-929-4040 Phone: 703-691-3179 Fax: 703-691-2713 http://www.foodallergy.org/ _______________________________________
