Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments I understand there is a move to relax the goal of placing barcodes on all meds. This would be a mistake and adversely affect patient safety. Barcodes should be required on all meds, including ampules and vials of all sizes. Expiration date and lot number should be phased in at a later date. Most meds used in hospitals consist of individual tablets, ampules, vials, and unitdose liquids. To omit these from barcode requirements would be to negate most barcoding benefits for hospitalized patients. Thank you for your consideration.
