Adding vitamin D3 from fish oil sources to fruit juices would eliminate those juices with the additive from use in vegetarian diets. Since the number of healthy pre-processed and packaged foods available for vegetarian consumption are already somewhat limited, this would further restrict already limited options and create a hardship for vegetarians and vegans. The change also has the potential to affect a sizable number of people since more and more individuals are adopting a vegetarian diet as a way of addressing concerns about heart disease and other diet-related chronic illnesses.
