Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments Gentleman(Women), I have been in the supplement industry for 10 years and have found that DSHEA has been more than a sufficient code to regulate this industry. Amending the bill is not in the best interest of the american public or the FDA. The added cost to the FDA budget, the law suits, and the restriction of freedoms of our citizens benefits no one. Ephedra when used as directed is safer than all the prescription weight loss drugs bar none. The inclusion of a warning label stating that use only as directed and listing the possible side effects as unlikely as they are should be more than enough to provide the public with all the information they need to keep them safe. You are all very intelligent people and you know as well as I that there are people who have a tendancy to abuse anything. Because of the several(6-7) over the last ten years who have abused this supplement by not following the directions or heeding the warnings is no reason to penalize the million plus that do. Please do not open another can of worms to regress this industry which generates hundreds of millions in tax revenues, to the argumentative and costly court battles of the last century. Sincerely, Dr. Richard J Srack NMD
