1. General Comments I have a current client in early recovery that I feel would meet the DSM IV Criteria for Ephedrine Dependancy (should one exist in the DSM IV) His symptoms include (but are not limited to) increase in tolerance, Loss of control, concerns of others, secret use, relief use, prior treatment for abuse of ephedrine, relationships affected, finacial affect, continued use in spite of negative consequences, family history of dependancy. This man has all the classic symptoms of dependancy and has been using ephedrine for more than 5 years, and has increased his dosage to several hundred pills daily. As a therapist, I am on the internet doing research on the effects on the body, and withdrawel symptoms he can expect. He has been clean for approximately 3 weeks, and motivated to stay clean. In leau of the controversy and death (which motivated my client into treatment)I thought you may want to interview him. Im fairly certain he would be interested in telling you his story. If you are interested in interviewing him, please contact me at my office. Karen Young CADCIII CCS-G Clinic Director Aro counseling Centers 141 A Cottonwood Ave Hartland WI phone (262) 367-5104
