Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments To Whom It May Concern, I am writing because I am very concerned about open-field testing of biopharm' crops. It has come to my attention that these crops need to be isolated from our food products. There needs to be a distance of no less than 20 miles between these crops to avoid contamination that would be potentionally unhealthful and costly. Consider the StarLink corn that found it's way into our food supply. 500,000 bushels of Nebraska soybeans and hundreds of acres of non-Ge Iowa corn had to be recalled. I can't imagine any of us running the risk of having open fields containing AIDS vaccine, blood clotting agents and industrial adhesives next to our most precius commodity, our food supply. These kind of experiments need to be handled with care and supervision. I am proud to be an American when I think of all the safe guards that our state and federal health agencies have enforced since 1976. Let's not undue progress and become our own worst enemy through negligence and shortcuts. Please, take the time to consider the consequences and ban open field testing of bio farm products before it is too late. Sincerely, Deborah Meints LMFT
