Dear Tinkerbell, Are you by any chance, Heather? First of all, go to www.dorway.com/nomarkle.html and print out Dr. H. J. Roberts position paper Multiple Sclerosis or Aspartame Disease? Take this to your physician so he understands that aspartame disease mimics MS. Dr. Roberts says not to make a diagnosis of MS until the patient has been off aspartame for several months. I would suggest that you and your physician get a copy of Dr. Roberts medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, www.aspartameispoison, or www.sunsentpress.com or 1 800 814 - 9800. There is a large chapter on Multiple Sclerosis or Aspartame Disease? There is also a chapter on how the physician should treat you, as well as a chapter on detoxification. You have been using it for years and it may take awhile. I would suggest you get on the aspartame support groups which you can click on from www.dorway.com so we can help you further from there. Normally I would tell you the best neurosurgeon to go to who understands is Russell Blaylock, M.D., in Mississippi, but he has stopped practicing in order to write more books and get the problems exposed more. However, I would also get his book Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, www.amazon.com If you have these books you and your physician will be educated. Plus there are 800 pages which print out to 10,000 on www.dorway.com on aspartame to help you plus a list of even more books on the subject. Secondly, you need to know to avoid all processed foods that may contain artificial and natural flavors as these may contain aspartame and MSG, another excitotoxin. Dr. Roberts says in his book to flood the body with distilled water but from a glass container, not plastic. Aspartame is a chemical hypersensitization agent and even reacts with vaccines, other toxins and additives. Dr. Blaylock says in his book to use magnesium citrate to protect the brain and the heart from excitotoxins. You're going to have to learn to be a label reader. Print out the paper by Dr. Roberts also, Aspartame and fibromyalgia and Arthritis. Aspartame hardens the synovial fluids and causing agonizing joint pain. There are also other articles on joint pain on web. Also notice the class action notice and see if you qualify while you're at it. Aspartame is a cumulative poison. The Trocho Study shows that the formaldehyde converted from the methanol accumulates in the cells and damages DNA, with most toxicity in the liver. But there is substantial toxicity in the kidneys, adipose tissue (fat cells), retina and brain. There is also a detox page on www.dorway.com It may take awhile but please be sure you are on the support groups and we'll continue to answer your questions and be glad to help your physician. There is also a list of aspartame detoxification centers on www.doray.com/nomarkle.html I believe we are going to have to put a note on the web site for physicians to add their name by state if they understand aspartame and can treat victims, so we can use the list as a referral basis. Aspartame Disease has become so epidemic and physicians have not been able to help the victims because they have been so lied to. Aspartame is not an additive, it is a neurotoxic drug and it interacts with just about every drug used to treat the problems it causes. What state are you in? All my best, Betty www.dorway.com At 03:19 PM 9/18/2002 -0400, Tinkerbell103753@cs.com wrote: Hello, I have been reading the information on aspartame and the link to MS. I was told several months ago I may have MS, that I was exhibiting many signs and symptoms of this. My husband had taken me to the ER one day because I was unable to walk without his assistance. I have not followed thru yet with the MRI and neurologist appointments for personal reasons. But then my husband showed me this article and I find it quite interesting. I have been a diet pepsi drinker for years and also used Equal in coffee for years. I just recently in the past 2 weeks stopped both. My symptoms of MS have not really appeared since May when I was in the ER, but I still have other problems, I attributed to my Fibromyalgia, or hypoglycemia. I still have fatigue, pain in joints and legs, dizziness at times, etc. My question is this: how long does it take after you stop using aspartame products, for the signs and symptoms to go away, if that is the culprit? Also, if the aspartame is causing a poison buildup in the body, is there something I need to do for follow up, such as seeing a doctor, any medicine or anything else I need to know about or to do about this? I appreciate your time and any advice you can share with me. Thank you.
