5. General Comments HARTZ ADVANCED CARE ONCE A MONTH FLEA AND TICK DROPS CAUSED PERMETHRIN TOXICITY IN MY THREE CATS. I CONSULTED TWO VETS REGARDING THEIR SEIZURES AND LACK OF MUSCLE CONTROL. I ALSO VIDEOTAPED THEIR BEHAVIOR. THE OUTLOOK FROM BOTH VETS WAS VERY GRIM AND MORE THAN LIKELY WITHOUT EXTENSIVE AND EXPENSIVE TREATMENT (AS MUCH AS $500/CAT) THE CATS PROBABLY WOULD NOT SURVIVE, AND IF THEY DID, VERY GOOD POSSIBILITY THAT THEY WOULD HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE AND NEUROLOGICAL DAMAGE. THE HAZARD ON THE PACKAGE DID NOT INDICATE A POSSIBILITY OF POISONING OR EVENTUAL DEATH BUT MERELY A POSSIBILITY OF SLIGHT REDNESS OF THE SKIN. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS FOR HARTZ TO RECALL ALL PRODUCT SAMPLES AND REPRINT THE HAZARD TO MORE ACCURATELY REFLECT THE THREAT OF PERMETHRIN TOXICITY TO CATS. I USED THE PRODUCT EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED ON THE PACKAGE AND MY CATS WERE ADULT, HEALTHY AND UNDER 10 POUNDS WHICH THE PACKAGE ALSO INDICATED.
