From: joseph strebler [strebler1978@hotmail.com] Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 8:48 PM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov I'm writing regarding the recent expansion of protections for "commercial speech". Corporations are considered artificial persons which may protect their right to free speech, but doing so makes the speech a lecture without opportunity to respond or object as corporations are so rich with huge advertising budgets which the general public cannot match. This keeps children, who are vulnerable to the psychological trickery which the sophisticated advertisers employ, subjected to messages which will not benefit their well-being, since most advertising of consumables for children consists of junk food ads, which in turn exacerbates the immense obesity and diabetes 2 crises in our nation. The FDA needs to serve the interests of the Public, not protect the ability of corporations to hawk their cigarettes and junk food to a trusting public. The FDA as part of the government needs to protect the public from corporate interests. thank you, joseph strebler 750 font blvd #A-507 san francisco, ca 94132 _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
