Crawford Jr., D.V.M., Ph.D., Deputy Commissioner: On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and constituency of Environmental Community Action, I want to express our concerns to you about phthalates and want the FDA to mandate that phthalates be removed from all products sold in the U.S. We are advocates for the public having not only a right to know, but the "need to know" what is being put in products they use that has potential to cause health problems. Until such time for a ban to be imposed, the FDA should require that all phthalate-containing products be labeled so that consumers will know what they are buying and have an option of not buying toxic contaminated products. Please take immediate action on all cosmetics, foods, and medical products that contain phthalates. Sincerely, Carol Williams, Exec.
